Okay, so I’m finally going forward with my #PatersonBeautiful project to highlight the beauty of Paterson, NJ rather than all the negativity. Support the cause and check out my Instagram (themindofdre) or just check them out here! Either way, I hope this casts a softer light on this place that is (justifiably) hard and sometimes scary on the surface. Check out some pics I’m posting today! (Thanks to my awesome girlfriend for the last two photos)
I want to share a new project that I’m starting that’s near and dear to my heart.
For most of my life, I’ve lived in Paterson, New Jersey. Though I’m looking to eventually live somewhere else, I’ve never been a fan of the negativity associated with Paterson.
I get why people feel the way they do; it’s not like Paterson doesn’t have it’s fair share of crime.
It also has it’s fair share of beauty, if you’re willing to pay attention.
Enter The #PatersonBeautiful Project.
I’ve never really had a good use for my Instagram account until now. I want to share how beautiful Paterson can be. I’m essentially going to make Paterson an art piece by capturing moments and creating some of my own.
This is more than just taking pictures. I’m going to show a different side of Paterson. And I’m going to try and let my creative energy flow with this one.
What the hell am I getting myself into?
Something cool, that’s what.
Look out for The #PatersonBeautiful Project on my Instagram (@themindofdre). Every so often I’ll post a collection of the images here and if you follow me on Twitter, you’ll see updates on what I’m doing with the project. Just a forewarning: I’m no photographer, but I’m going to use this as my opportunity to hopefully learn a new skill.
My iPhone will have to do the trick until I invest in a new camera.
In the meantime, you stay beautiful too.
Peace out, party people.
